ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to theProject Manager/Senior project Managerand under the guidance of a senior staff is responsiblefor carrying out assignments for specific projects or programs; conducting activities related to environmental water/wastewater or waste management project in environmental assessment detailed design or construction processes; assisting department users with their business requirements; participating in engineering meetings submittal review coordination and day to day project management tasksassisting in various projects and budget activities; and providing support in the research design analysis and planning activities of the Branch.
WHAT YOULL BE DOING
- Assists in ensuring that projects or procedures are carried out according to procedures plans specifications and contract standards.
- Provides input and technical support for projects under the direction of Management and/or Senior staff.
- Monitors project activities and ensure that assigned project and task timetables are kept up to date.
- Prepares and submits regular project status reports.
- Assists in the development and implementation of projectsin various phases including Environmental Assessments detailed design procurement implementation/construction
- Research and analyses data to determine requirements and provides supporting data for reports as required.
- Coordinate and attend meetings with the project manager prepare minutes create action item logs follow up on action items to ensure due dates are met.
- Create and maintain various logs including Shop drawings and submittal logs Site instructions Request for information and engineering and contractor change orders.
- Attend Construction site for meetings measure project progress comparing it to the construction drawings verification that as constructed drawing are up to date.
- Provides input on business process changes and impact of implementation.
- Liaises with internal and external staff outside agencies contractors and the public on projects and provides technical information as directed.
WHAT WERE LOOKING FOR
- Successful completion of a three-year Community College Diploma Program in Civil Engineering Technology or Environmental Studies or approved equivalent.
- Up to one year experience working in a Water and Wastewater
- Valid Ontario Class G drivers license and reliable vehicle to use on corporate business.
- Knowledge of applicable guidelines procedures standards and legislation including Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Knowledge of theory principles and practices of public consultation process program development planning design and construction and Water and Wastewater and/or Solid Waste Infrastructure.
- Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in water and wastewater treatment process conveyance and collection system design technical data collection design development project reporting and progress tracking.
- Knowledge and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including communication innovation teamwork and collaboration and personal ownership.
- Computer literacy utilizing MS software applications as well as demonstrated proficiency with the application of specialized software relevant to the technical specialty (e.g. AutoCAD and Project Scheduling).
- Ability to provide technical support for projects under direction of Management and/or Senior staff.
- Ability to read interpret and comment on technical reports engineering drawings and maps.
- Ability to work outside regular business hours as required.
