Description & Requirements

The Immunology Program at theBroad Instituteis seeking an experienced and dynamic Cell Therapies Senior Group Leader to lead our multidisciplinary team in the research development and optimization of advanced cell-based therapies. Reporting toRamnik Xavier this leadership role is critical to driving innovation and will be focused on advancing the understanding and application of cell therapy platforms including but not limited to understanding how innate immune cellsparticularly dendritic cells (DCs) natural killer (NK) cells and innate lymphoid cells (ILCs). Ideal candidate should possess unique blend of scientific expertise translational biology knowledge and strategic leadership experience.

The candidate for this role should have a strong background in molecular biology immunology or biomedical engineering along with a deep understanding of the scientific principles and technologies behind cell therapies such as stem cell biology gene editing and tissue engineering. Prospective applicants should have made significant contributions to their area of study as evidenced by a strong publication record. We are seeking creative exceptionally self-motivated and enthusiastic individual who wants to work in a dynamic multi-disciplinary research environment committed to mechanistic insight technological innovation and a collaborative scientific environment.

In this position you will:
  • Engage a vibrant community of world-leading scientists. Broad Programs are hubs for researchers across our seven partner institutions and the global scientific community.

You look forward to both attending and shaping scientific projects conferences and program meetings and digesting scientific literature in order to keep current on a wide range of topics. You enjoy engaging in discussions with accomplished scientists and youre confident and forthright with your own ideas but also able to work in the background and defer to others.
  • Manage your time effectively. You have superb time management skills and are used to shifting priorities and meeting deadlines. You have a knack for knowing how and what to prioritize and your leaders and collaborators trust that you will deliver.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee the design execution and interpretation of in vitro and in vivo studies for development and translation of novel cell-based therapies
  • Facilitate the development of autologous and allogeneic studies for development of cell therapies
  • Recruit supervise and mentor scientists at various levels in partnership with Broad Institute members
  • Publish high-impact research in peer-reviewed journals and present findings at national/international conferences
  • Write grant proposals provide oversight in the management of grant proposals renewals and progress reports
  • Identify collaborators technologies and analyses to further develop cell therapies
  • Apply for and secure funding from federal agencies foundations and industry partners
  • Oversee progress of grants to ensure budgets schedules and performance requirements are met

REQUIREMENTS

  • Ph.D. M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. in Immunology Molecular Biology or a related biomedical field
  • At least 15 years experience designing and supervising basic translational and/or preclinical studies relevant to cell therapy development.
  • Experience managing or mentoring a team with demonstrated leadership skills
  • A solid record of publishing in high-impact research in peer-reviewed journals
  • Ability to clearly communicate scientific material efficiently manage time and work collaboratively
