You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe City of Baraboo seeks a Licensed Semi Skilled Crewperson within the Public Works Department. This is a full-time position minimum of 40 hours per week. Additional hours may be required during inclement weather or on an as needed basis. Typical duties include the performance of physical labor related to tree removal/brush trimming asphalt and concrete repairs snowplowing and removal general maintenance related to Streets/Parks/Utilities and other duties as assigned. Applicants must have a valid Class B Commercial Drivers License with air brake endorsement and experience with Public Works related hand tools and heavy equipment operation. Applicants must have the ability to lift 75 lbs. unassisted and be able to work independently or as part of a team. The pay range for this position is $23.94 to $30.58.
1. Safe and effective use of tools and materials used in day-to-day operations.
2. Crack fill streets.
3. Repair potholes.
4. Brush and tree cutting.
5. Leaf collection and mowing.
6. Asphalt and/or concrete repair projects.
7. Snow plowing and salting.
8. Snow removal.
9. Maintain traffic signs and pavement markings
10. Repairs and maintenance of Stormwater Utility infrastructure.
11. Repairs and maintenance of Sanitary Sewer infrastructure.
12. Wash and clean assigned equipment - inside and out.
13. Observe safety precautions to prevent accidents.
14. Follow all guidelines and policies as established by the City of Baraboo.
Education and Experience: High School Diploma GED or a combination of education and experience equal to a high school graduation. Minimum of two years experience in the Public Works field preferred.
Necessary Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
1. Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
2. Establish and maintain effective relationships with fellow employees and the public.
3. Skilled in the operation and maintenance of hand and power tools and a variety of vehicles used routinely in the performance of such operations as street maintenance tree trimming and removal snow plowing street cleaning etc.
1. Possession of a valid Class B Wisconsin Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with air brake endorsement with a Class A preference.
2. Possess a good driving record.

While performing the duties of this job employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear. Occasionally required to walk use hands to finger handle or operate objects tools or controls and reach with hands and arms. Also required to crouch bend stoop and navigate tight spaces.
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors and may require occasional physical exertion. Frequently interacts with customers employees and contractors via verbal and written communication. May be required to assist in the actual performance of maintenance or construction work in emergency situations. The employee must be able to lift 75 pounds unassisted. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
Tasks may require frequent exposure to adverse environmental conditions. This position involves periodic entry into confined spaces trenches and excavations.
Work Environment: Work alone or in a group under all types of adverse weather conditions and can be called to work on a 24/7 basis.
Selection Guidelines:
1. Minimum of two years of experience in Public Works operations preferred.
2. Formal application rating of education and experience; oral interview and reference check; job related tests may be required.
