Position Overview:
FMC Agricultural Solutions is seeking a Principal Investigator to lead early-stage research efforts within the Insecticide Discovery Biology group. This role focuses on discovering and developing innovative insect control technologies that are sustainable effective and commercially viable. The successful candidate will lead a small team of scientists and work cross-functionally with other disciplines to design execute and interpret experiments that drive the discovery and optimization of new insecticidal compounds.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and execution of laboratory greenhouse and field experiments targeting agriculturally relevant insect pests.
- Develop and refine bioassays to evaluate insecticide efficacy mode of action crop safety and environmental impact.
- Analyze and interpret experimental data; generate detailed technical reports and deliver presentations for internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Supervise and mentor a team of scientists and research associates; foster scientific growth and technical excellence.
- Collaborate across discovery chemistry formulation regulatory and field development teams to advance pipeline candidates.
- Maintain and optimize insect colonies and host plants to ensure reliable reproducible bioassay conditions.
- Troubleshoot experimental or logistical challenges; implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and data quality.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols when handling experimental compounds and biological materials.
Required Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Entomology Insect Science or a related biological discipline.
- Strong knowledge of economically important crop pests and their control methods.
- Hands-on experience with insecticide screening resistance profiling or field trials.
- Postdoctoral or industrial experience with multi-pest or multi-crop systems is highly desirable.
