Multiple Roles Available for Paediatric Speech Pathologists
Position: Paediatric Speech Pathologist (Clinical and School Readiness roles available)
Location: Coburg Greensborough West Heidelberg and surrounds
Employment type: Permanent and Fixed Term Full or Part Time roles available. School Readiness: Hybrid model - remote and office flexible across different Holstep Health sites.
FTE: Clinical: 0.8 (4 days a week) available - 0.4 Fixed term (12mth) available in Coburg 0.4 Permanent available in Greensborough. Grade 2 preferred but Grade 1 will be considered

School Readiness:
Grow your speech pathology career and support early childhood educators to build their capacity in kindergarten settings through the delivery of the Allied Health School Readiness Funding (SRF). Enjoy a slower-paced work environment all while being supported by a strong and passionate Paediatric Allied Health team (Occupational Therapy Psychology Speech Pathology). The School Readiness role will cover the Banyule Darebin Yarra and Nillumbik local government areas. YOUR NEW ROLE:
Clinical:
The Speech Pathology position sits within the Child Health team comprising Speech Pathology Occupational Therapy Psychology Audiology and Allied Health Assistant. The Speech Pathologists are responsible for providing assessment and therapy to children aged from birth to school entry with communication challenges in the Merri-bek and Banyule areas. The Speech Pathologist provides services using a family centred approach.
School Readiness:
The Allied Health Clinician (Speech Pathologist) position sits within the School Readiness Allied Health team providing paediatric allied health capacity-building support to early childhood education and care services within the Banyule Darebin Yarra and Nillumbik local government areas.
The School Readiness Allied Health Program is funded by the Department of Education and aims to support kindergarten educators and the families in their centres to build their capacity to assist young childrens learning in the areas of communication wellbeing and access/inclusion.
The role will be supported through collaboration with a broader paediatric allied health team consisting of Speech Pathologists Psychologists and Occupational Therapists. As a Speech Pathologist in the School Readiness Allied Health team you will be responsible for providing allied health support to educators and families in order to build their skills in supporting children through coaching modelling group training case consultations and resource development.
You Will Be Responsible For:
Clinical:
All elements of care provision from referral to discharge including wait list triaging and prioritisation comprehensive assessments that integrate a range of information from multiple sources and effective care / intervention planning using a client centred model.
Maintain professional expertise and commit to ongoing professional development in order that assessment and therapy programs reflect current best evidence.
Work within a team environment which may include joint assessment and therapy sessions group therapy programs offsite visits such as to early learning centres playgroups and other community locations as needed.
Continual quality evaluation of management / intervention plans and group programs for effectiveness efficiency quality and accurate documentation of outcomes.
Establish maintain and value professional relationships with other service providers and work to understand their role and capacities in the provision of each clients care.
Complete tasks on time and in a self-directed manner acting within own knowledge base and scope of practice.
Provide effective delegation/supervision to Allied Health Assistants and Speech Pathology students as appropriate.
Initiate and lead peer-supervision processes that focus on supporting clinical practice and building on excellence.
School Readiness:
Purposefully engage kindergarten educators to identify and support the skill development of children as they prepare for school.
Provide secondary consultation to kindergartens in the format of coaching across a range of platforms (e.g. in person telehealth email phone etc.).
Undertake discipline-specific tasks such as the provision of information in relation to expressive receptive and pragmatic language development speech sound development engagement in book sharing and early literacy activities.
Work collaboratively with other disciplines within the team to provide a high quality multi-disciplinary service.
Effectively manage a caseload through organisation of appointments handover of services for discipline-specific support and/or joint delivery of sessions.
Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to maximise service coordination and cooperation.

A graduate or post-graduate degree in Speech Pathology.
Experience working in paediatric allied health with experience working with kinder-aged children an advantage.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team to develop and implement evidence-based programs that meet the goals and desired outcomes for children families and educators.
An openness to working in a capability-building and coaching role with educators and families to promote skills and knowledge of child development.
Experience working with children in families who may be experiencing hardship and/or from culturally diverse backgrounds.
Highly developed communication time management and organisational skills.
Ability to work in a range of environments including centre-based preschool and home settings.
