PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Perform all Custodial cleanliness tasks and to insure a safe clean healthy school campus.

Perform tasks as assigned to assist in all District performance goals.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education/Certification:

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Leadership skills to effectively give direction to other employees to insure the completion of all assigned Custodial tasks

Read and understand instructions for cleaning maintenance and safety procedures

Basic computer skills- understanding District software approving employee time sheets submitting work orders and ordering Custodial Supplies

Communicate verbally and in writing to other staff concerning requirements of the job and other information important to the job

Read and understand instructions for cleaning maintenance and safety procedures

Knowledge of minor repair techniques and building and grounds maintenance

Operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy equipment

Basic understanding of addition subtraction multiplication and division to know the proper dilution of chemicals

Work Conditions:

Tools/Equipment Used: Including but not limited to buffer stripper wet and dry vacuum cleanerelectric drill hand tools

Posture: Frequent standing sitting kneeling/squatting bending/stooping pushing/pulling and twisting

Motion: Frequent walking climbing stairs/ladders grasping/squeezing wrist flexion/extensionreaching and overhead reaching

Lifting: Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) on a daily basis; occasional exertion of a heavyforce (50 lbs or greater)

Environment: Work outside and inside on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure toextreme hot and cold temperatures dust toxic chemicals and materials; exposure to biological hazards (bacteria communicable diseases); exposure to high noise levels;regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours

Mental Demands: Frequent changes in task; maintain emotional control under stress

Regular attendance is an essential function

Minimum Experience:Custodial experience desired but not required

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. Perform all daily assigned Custodial maintenance duties in assigned work areas
  2. Perform any additional tasks building rentals school functions etc as required
  3. Maintain a cleaning schedule that will include cleaning of floors chalkboards wastebaskets windows furniture equipment and restrooms.
  4. Keep school building and grounds including sidewalks driveways parking lots and play areas neat and clean.
  5. Comply with local laws and procedures for storage and disposal of trash.
  6. Move furniture or equipment within building as directed by principal.
  7. Organize and set up facilities for special events.
  8. Work closely with District Custodial and any other Amarillo ISD staff at assigned campus
  9. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing.
  10. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
  11. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.
  12. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  13. Ensure compliance with all local policies and state and federal statutes including the Educator Code of Ethics.
  14. Perform such other tasks and accepts such other responsibilities as may be assigned.
