Join our dynamic maintenance team as a Painter & Decorator where youll play a critical role in maintaining the visual appeal and brand standards across our hotel portfolio. Youll be responsible not just for carrying out high-quality painting and decorating work but also for managing inventory specifying appropriate finishes and proactively planning redecoration schedules for each property.
This role is ideal for someone with a meticulous eye for detail strong organizational skills and a passion for delivering professional decorative finishes in guest-facing environments.
What Youll Do
Execute daily painting decorating and surface repair tasks across properties ensuring rooms and guest spaces maintain a high standard of visual appeal.
Prepare and finish surfaces with precision including sanding filling caulking priming painting wallpapering and specialty decorative finishes.
Maintain and repair painted finishes on doors windows furniture fixtures and hardware across guest rooms and public spaces.
Proactively create and implement paint and touch-up schedules for each property ensuring consistency of aesthetic across the portfolio.
Manage paint and materials inventory ensuring all stock is accounted for appropriately stored and replenished in a timely manner.
Specify and apply the correct paint type and finish based on location surface durability requirements and design specifications.
Ensure all work complies with relevant Health & Safety regulations and maintain a safe clean and organized working environment.
Collaborate with the broader maintenance team to ensure efficient workflows and coordinate shared duties across the department.
Coordinate and support external contractors on larger projects such as full-room redecorations wallpaper installations or refurbishments.
Use digital tools and mobile work management systems to receive work orders log job status track materials and document before/after photos.
Provide input on paint and finish selections during refurbishments or upgrades ensuring aesthetic consistency with Sonders brand.
Support other maintenance tasks as needed and lean in to assist broader operational needs based on property or team requirements.
Who We Look For
Proven professional experience in painting and decorating preferably within hospitality commercial or high-end residential settings
Excellent timekeeping punctuality and reliability in managing daily tasks and schedules
Advanced knowledge of surface preparation interior painting techniques wallpapering and the use of professional tools and equipment
Strong understanding of different paint types finishes and their appropriate application in high-traffic and moisture-sensitive environments
Experience managing paint stock tracking usage placing supply orders and maintaining inventory logs
Familiarity with scheduling maintenance work and building visual upkeep plans
Tech-savvy and confident using digital systems to log work track progress and manage tasks (e.g. work order systems Google Suite)
A keen eye for detail and pride in maintaining high-quality finishes and brand consistency
A flexible and positive attitude with the ability to adapt to shifting priorities schedules and occasional weekend work
Strong time management and independent problem-solving abilities
Physically fit and able to stand for long periods lift/carry materials and work at height or in varied weather conditions
Bonus Skills
Experience with color theory decorative finishes or interior design trends
Previous experience working with external contractors or tradespeople
Experience with hospitality brand standards or hotel aesthetics
