Credit Controller Gloucester Permanent up to 30000

The Company

My client is within the wholesale sector

Job Summary

Manage the customer base and the relevant parties in the multiple depots to ensure that prompt payment is made and appropriate actions are taken to follow up non-payment including pro-active query resolution

Work as part of a finance team of 4 to prevent and reduce debt

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage a debt ledger of c. 7m
  • Chase debtors promptly to ensure all overdue is received within a timely manner and all relevant debts are managed effectively.
  • Monitor and identify changes in payment patterns to minimise risk.
  • Provide all relevant documentation to ensure payment can be made in line with terms post and allocate cash as per customer instructions and where necessary produce and send the relevant overdue letters/emails to coincide and adhere to the credit insurance policies terms and conditions.
  • Examine shortfalls with payments work with customers to understand and rectify these and take necessary steps to prevent future shortfalls.
  • Review investigate and resolve queries by liaising with internal and external customers.
  • Support the onboarding of new customers to include checks with credit reference agencies and governing bodies.
  • Propose solutions to reduce debt and take effective action to include the negotiation of payment plans and proposing unrecoverable balances to be written off periodically.

  • Excellent relationship building interpersonal communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail accuracy and organisational skills.
  • Proactive approach to work supported by strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good IT Skills and experience using systems and Microsoft office including excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities meet deadlines and manage expectations.
  • Positive polite and professional telephone manner
