Job Summary
The Locksmith Technician is responsible for performing a wide range of physical security duties including the installation removal and maintenance of lock cores cutting keys managing access control systems and responding to access-related service requests.

Travel: This position may require up to 10% travel
Duties/Responsibilities
Provide services related to combination lock cores cutting keys and installing/removing cores as part of standard locksmith responsibilities.
Must be trained in a certified locksmith course compliant with Federal Installation standards (e.g. Best Lock/Stanley Doors training).
Provide hard key and card key access within 24 hours of AC Form 1600.6 being signed by AMP-300.
Perform core installations and changes within 24 hours of emergency cases response must be within 4 hours during normal working hours. For after-hours emergencies core changes must be made within four working hours.
Process identification badges daily ensuring no more than a 15-minute delay except in cases where the badge machine is down for maintenance or repair.
Respond to key/core listing requests within 24 hours.
Report all security-related incidents promptly and clearly to immediate supervisor both verbally and using AC Form 1600-26 (yellow sheet).

Required Skills/Abilities

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel Outlook)
Install and remove locking hardware and cores
Cut keys and maintain physical key control
Operate and manage access card security systems
Upgrade/downgrade codes change access levels and time zones
Perform data entry into a computerized identification media system
Education and Experience
Required: Minimum of five (5) years of experience working with Best Locking Systems and Electronic Access Systems.
Required: Certification from a recognized locksmith training program specifically compliant with Federal Installation requirements (e.g. Best Lock/Stanley Doors training).
Preferred: Five (5) or more years of full-time experience in commercial or federal locksmith work particularly with Best locking systems and electronic access control systems in complex facilities.
Preferred: Proficiency in key management systems core cutting and security access database systems.
Preferred: Ability to demonstrate previous experience via 23 samples of technical documentation system logs or written incident reports.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift and transport lock cores tools and equipment regularly.
Requires prolonged periods standing walking or crouching while installing or repairing locks.
Must be able to operate standard locksmith and office equipment including pinning kits key cutters computers and badge printers.
