You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe WRD Internship Program provides opportunities for students to gain valuable experience in the water industry. The purpose of this policy is to outline the Districts and interns responsibilities and to ensure interns have a positive and productive experience with the District.
Interns will gain real-life work experience in a fast-moving and professional environment. Depending on the field being pursued by the interns they will be placed within one of the Districts departments which include Administration/Human Resources Data and Technology Engineering and Operations Finance External Affairs Data Technology Services Hydrogeology or Watermaster/Water Resources. Interns will also have the opportunity to learn about the management and preservation of southern Californias groundwater resources from the lead agency responsible for those resources.
This multifaceted position will span a variety of activities and therefore require the incumbent to be highly motivated and exercise flexibility as they perform various tasks related to accounting and finance.
Familiarity with the following is favored:
Microsoft office products specifically Excel Word and Outlook;
Data entry and basic principles of accounting
Ability to do the following is favored:
Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills;
Demonstrate a high level of organization tact and a positive outlook and drive;
Work independently or in a team setting;
Gain an understanding of new concepts in a constantly changing environment.
The Districts internship program is designed to provide an opportunity for college students to gain real-world experience while applying the principals and practices obtained through their academic training. Incumbents must furnish proof of enrollment and class schedule each semester/quarter to remain in the program.
The ideal candidate must be enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited college/university with a minimum of one year completed in accounting finance or related field and be capable of working 10 to 18 hours per week. Candidates must undergo a physical and criminal background check.
The applicant must meet the following requirements for consideration:
Must have completed at least one year in undergraduate school;
Must be currently enrolled in an accredited program related to the aforementioned fields.
Successful completion of a pre-employment physical examination and drug screening; and successful completion of a pre-employment background check
Must provide a copy of current college transcript upon offer of employment.
DURATION:
Student Professional Interns are those interns in the department of Administration/Human Resources Data Technology Finance and External Affairs.
