Lead with integrity protect with purpose- step into a commanding role at the heart of North Carolinas government as a State Capitol Police Lieutenant where leadership meets service in safeguarding the states most vital institutions.
This position involves law enforcement duties at North Carolina state buildings and grounds. Employees may serve as the highest-ranking Police Officer at 24/7 state-operated facilities across the state. Responsibilities include supervising coordinating and implementing security operations as well as developing and enforcing facility policies and emergency response procedures.
The role includes budgetary oversight for police equipment and supplies including purchasing and distribution. As part of the facilitys management team the employee may also serve on various committees. Duties include investigating criminal offenses involving state property or personnel preparing both operational and investigative reports and overseeing a team of Police Officers.
The employee is responsible for creating and managing work schedules to maintain adequate staffing and may reassign officers as necessary. This role supports officers in their investigations and provides on-the-job training. Additionally the position involves reviewing reports submitted by subordinatessuch as incident arrest and traffic crash reportsfor accuracy and completeness.
Human resource responsibilities include conducting interviews coaching and disciplining staff and completing performance evaluations.
This position involves patrolling the state government complex and surrounding state propertiesboth on foot and by police vehicleto enforce laws and regulations control traffic prevent crimes maintain public order and apprehend violators within designated jurisdictional boundaries.

The Minimum Education and Experience (E&E) are REQUIRED to qualify for this position. Necessary Special Qualifications:
