Job Description
Creates 3D characters creatures and animals that meet the projects requirements including deformation-specific topology optimizations and look characters by combining technical expertise artistic ability and a deep understanding of anatomy and character ideas from concept to final delivery by collaborating effectively cross-functionally to realize character and perform hair/fur grooming techniques and create wardrobe and accessories that complement the character design.
- 2 AAA titles shipped with credited contributions as a Senior Character Artist.
- 10 years experience working in professional production.
- Portfolio must showcase the following including breakdowns of the candidates contributions to AAA titles:
- High-quality modeling sculpting texturing shading of characters including costumes and hair/fur for real-time game engines.
- Expert-level proficiency in the entire character art workflow from high-poly sculpts to final in-game assets.
- Extensive experience building characters creatures animals across a wide range of styles.
- Deep understanding of human and creature anatomy.
- Strong knowledge of topology for deformation.
- Proficient in using scan or capture for modeling or blendshapes.
- Proficient in lighting and look development of characters in industry-standard offline renderers such as Arnold and V-Ray.
- Deep understanding of runtime performance and how to scale content for different platforms.
- Strong understanding of character optimization for motion and real-time performance as well as look development across a wide range of styles.
- Thorough knowledge of pipelines and processes used in real-time art development.
- Strong understanding of real time rendering in various engines.
- Able to communicate precisely and collaborate well cross-functionally.
- Self-starter and driver excellent communicator and team-player with the ability to guide and mentor other artists and tech artists on best practices and techniques.
- Ability to anticipate prioritize and organize work to lead direction and meet objectives.
