Who we are
The Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) is the professional body for speech and language therapists across the UK. The RCSLT has over 22000 members and employs around 65 staff predominately based in the London office. The RCSLT also has offices in Belfast Edinburgh and Cardiff.
Our mission is to improve the lives of people with communication and swallowing needs by facilitating and promoting research producing guidance holding events and influencing government. We aim to promote better education and training for speech and language therapists and provide information to our members and the public about speech and language therapy.
The role
The Assistant Content and Engagement Officer plays a vital role in supporting the RCSLT by assisting with the production of top-quality content tailored resources and information across print and digital channels.
In this role youll use your strong editorial and organisational skills to help produce our award-winning member our members magazine Bulletin as well as other member communications such as our fortnightly e-newsletter and our online blogSLT Voices. You will manage our magazine peer review group and collaborate with internal experts. Youll also contribute to supporting the wider content team and colleagues across the RCSLT with your expertise in content editorial processes and brand guidelines.
Youll take the lead in coordinating production workflows and providing essential editorial support to a small creative team. Your attention to detail and excellent writing skills will be key when proofreading editing or creating content whether for print social media our website or communications campaigns. Above all youll help ensure our content is consistently high quality engaging and valuable to our members.
What we are looking for
We are seeking a detail-oriented and creative communications professional with strong editorial skills and a commitment to high standards and accessibility. The ideal candidate will have experience using editorial style guides and brand guidelines writing and editing content for diverse audiences and managing processes to meet deadlines. The ideal candidate will have experience working in member organisations and be comfortable collaborating with people from a range of backgrounds including service users.
Key skills include editorial precision the ability to prioritise under pressure and a willingness to learn and use tools like CMS CRM and task management systems. Understanding the communication needs of a membership organisation and accessibility principles in both print and online formats is desirable. A commitment to equality diversity and the aims and charitable objectives of the RCSLT is essential.

How to apply

Interview process: interviews will take place virtually from the 28 August 2025. The interviews will involve a task and a set of interview questions. The task will be sent to candidates the day before the interview.
