Job Description

SUMMARY:

The Barber Stylist is responsible for providing clients with personal services including shampooing drying hair facials cuts and trims. They must ensure that the barbershop and common workspaces remain clean and sterile as per the state/jurisdiction Health Code. Additionally they are expected to understand and effectively communicate the full Manifest brand proposition and membership offerings to clients as needed. The Barber Stylist must consistently deliver high-quality service as outlined in the handbook and brand guidelines.

REPORTS TO: Barber Manager

DIRECT REPORTS: None

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Client Consultation Services & Engagement

  • Arrives on time for each shift
  • Follows the dress code as outlined by company guidelines
  • Maintains a high level of service-centric positive interactions with all customers
  • Consults with clients before each service to fully understand their desired look and set expectations for results and necessary upkeep
  • Shampoos conditions and dries hair applying additional products as needed for straightening curling or styling
  • Cuts trims and styles hair according to client requests
  • Shapes shaves and trims facial hair in accordance with company procedures
  • Provides personal grooming services including scalp neck and facial massages as defined by company procedures Prepares hot towels for barber services

Sales & Marketing

  • Promotes and sells Manifest Barbershop services in alignment with company guidelines
  • Increases sales of memberships products and services including converting non-members into members
  • Markets and sells Manifest’s apothecary and retail products to both members and non-members

Barber Station & Retail Organization

  • Organizes barber stations daily
  • Organizes back bar and storage sections of the daily when not servicing clients
  • Maintains a clean safe and sanitized work environment including trash removal in all areas such as the back bar workstations reception and retail spaces
  • Cleans and sterilizes tools and equipment including shears combs and clippers

Administrative & Operational Task

  • Performs opening and closing procedures by completing required checklist
  • Creates and maintains accurate service records for clients

Training & Development

  • Completes initial and ongoing education in barbering techniques grooming services and other relevant training related to personal care and styling
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Attend all mandatory staff meetings and events as scheduled

SKILLS ABILITIES & PERFORMANCE:

  • Thorough understanding of current hair trends styles and cuts
  • Proficient in the use of barbering tools and equipment including shears combs and clippers
  • Ability to assess clients personal service needs and take corrective action if expectations are not met
  • Active state barber license
  • Knowledge of state board rules regulations and requirements
  • Commitment to continuing education and maintaining necessary certifications and licenses
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Strong ability to engage with clients and interpret complex or specific requests
  • Comprehensive knowledge of salon services and Manifest offerings
  • Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills
  • Thorough understanding of hair styling equipment and proper maintenance
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure
  • Knowledge of Manifest’s operations services and expertise
  • Strong ability to anticipate and meet the needs of members clients and staff
  • Capability to achieve management-set goals with minimal supervision
  • Serves as a knowledgeable resource for members clients and staff
  • Exhibits positive behaviors to foster a supportive and professional work environment
  • Monitors and responds to company emails within a reasonable timeframe

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Graduation from an accredited Barber or Cosmetology School
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid state Barber License required for each procedure performed
  • At least three years of experience required

  • Frequently required to utilize hand and finger dexterity
  • Continually required to climb balance bend stoop kneel or crawl
  • Frequently required to talk or hear utilize visual acuity to operation equipment read technical information and/or use a keyboard
  • Frequently required to stand walk and sit for prolonged periods of time
  • Frequently required to lift/push/carry items up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to access and navigate the Manifest facility
