The Investment Analyst will join the Investment Team in managing JM Familys investment portfolios (Corporate Insurance Pension and 401k). The position will play a key role in supporting the investment team in underwriting new investment mandates monitoring existing portfolio investments and conducting tailored investment research to benefit portfolio objectives. The position will work directly with the teams Portfolio Managers to assist in the evaluation of co-investments and fund investments across private equity venture capital private credit and public markets.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for investment monitoring activities for existing investments by attending review meetings preparing research notes and integrating forecasting into performance monitoring systems
Support due diligence underwriting process for new investments by assessing fund offering documents private placement memorandums and financial models
Evaluate investment performance with established metrics (e.g. benchmarks expected risks and returns strategies etc.) to ensure investments perform as expected enable timely corrective actions and minimize negative exposure
Prepare insights regarding investment portfolio performance including analytics exposure performance and other miscellaneous reports
Conduct industry market and manager-level research to support broader investment and portfolio construction decisions
Assist with review and analysis of portfolio performance reports for specific investments to highlight areas of over- and under-performance and to identify areas requiring in-depth analysis
Perform research and analysis on investment strategies
Work with Investment Operations team regarding the reconciliation of transactions valuations and investment returns and custodian bank and portfolio management systems reconciliations
Assist and coordinate with the preparation of content for Investment Committee meeting materials
Other responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications:
3 years of related investment management / analytical experience
Bachelors degree in Finance Economics Accounting or a related field
CFA or CAIA designation or progress toward completion is preferred but not required
Strong quantitative analytical skills
Familiarity with private markets investing and/or institutional portfolio management
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently or with a team and with changing priorities and deadlines
Exceptional knowledge of MS Office Products and specialized investment management tools such as NASDAQ TopQ Pitchbook FactSet and DealEdge
