DESCRIPTION: Southeastern Regional is seeking a Collision Repair & Restoration Teacher to join the program. Candidates must hold a current Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification in at least two areas of automotive collision repair and refinishing (one of the areas must be painting or refinishing). Bilingual is preferred. Satisfactory CORI Statewide Applicant Fingerprint Identification Services (SAFIS) and SORI required.

The students balance the rigors of a complete academic course of studies with technical skill training in over 20 career majors. POSITION SUMMARY:
- Map each grade curriculum to the Massachusetts Automotive Collision Frameworks.
- Provide instruction in the content following the Massachusetts Automotive Collision Frameworks.
- Enforce all OSHA safety regulations within the career education setting.
- Instruct students in the shop classroom or field when participating in community projects.
- Document student performance student behavior and student achievement within the career education setting.
- Provides review and reinforcement of new concepts; supports students in the completion of their assigned tasks.
- Demonstrate knowledge of students IEPs as well as the accommodations and modifications necessary for student success; modify assignments tests and quizzes in collaboration with special educators if required.
- Develop resources to support student success including models graphic organizers class notes video clips and demonstrations.
- Participate as a member of the career area department; collaborate with teachers within the department.
- Collaborate with teachers in academic disciplines to facilitate learning activities that are cross-curricular and project-based.
- Collaborate with the Vocational Supervisor/Cooperative Education Coordinator to place students in their career areas.
- Maintain documentation including student performance behavior progress data records of student absences and tardiness and notes from conversations with parents and administrators.
- Provide content support outside of the general education classroom as necessary.
- Integrate technology into the curriculum.
- Respond to any correspondence both oral and written that comes from a parent or guardian.
- Participate in conferences and meetings when appropriate; contribute observations and ideas.
- Attend Advisory Board meetings twice per year; attend Open House.
- Stay current with changes in your career area and collaborate with Advisory Board members.
- Accept additional responsibilities as may be required under the direction of the Vocational Supervisor(s).
- Must be able to complete Collision Repair & Restoration projects on campus or within the shop environment.
- Must be able to complete Collision Repair & Restoration community-based projects within Southeastern Regionals sending communities.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Experience safely using the tools and equipment commonly used in the Collision Repair and Restoration industry.
- Experience installing Collision Repair & Restoration components in a manner that meets ASE standards and the Massachusetts Automotive Collision Frameworks.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills.
- Able to meet deadlines and carry out initiatives as assigned by your supervisor(s).
- Strong technology skills.
- Ability to be flexible with job assignments and performance responsibilities.
- Willingness to teach all grade levels (9-12) in-house on shop assignments or live work or off-campus/community projects.
Qualifications:
- Preliminary Automotive Collision Repair & Refinishing Vocational Technical Teacher License (or the ability to meet the licensure requirements)
- High school diploma or the equivalent
- Five years of full-time employment experience directly related to automotive collision repair & refinishing
- Possession of current Automotive Services Excellence (ASE) certification in at least two areas of automotive collision repair & refinishing (one of the areas must be painting/refinishing)
- Passing score on each test (written test and performance test) in automotive collision repair & refinishing
- One of the following:
- achieve a passing score on the Vocational Technical Literacy Skills Test
- achieve a passing score on the Communication and Literacy Skills Test

COMPENSATION:Teachers are school-year employees paid in 21 or 26 equal installments from September - June (or August if 26 pays).

- A bachelors degree may substitute for two of five years of required employment experience provided that the degree includes subject matter related to the Technical Knowledge and Skills strand (Strand 2) of the Vocational Technical Education Framework in Automotive Collision Repair and Refinishing* and/or in vocational education.
