Job Description

PM&R Physician Specializing in Addiction Medicine

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) Physician with a focus in Addiction Medicine to join a multidisciplinary care team. This role integrates physical rehabilitation with addiction treatment supporting patients managing both physical impairments and substance use disorders.

As part of a whole-person care model you will play a key role in restoring mobility relieving pain supporting recovery and promoting long-term wellness across a diverse patient population.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate diagnose and manage patients with musculoskeletal neurologic and functional impairments as well as substance use disorders.

  • Develop and implement personalized rehabilitation and addiction treatment plans.

  • Collaborate with physical therapists behavioral health specialists addiction counselors and other providers to ensure integrated care.

  • Perform and interpret procedures such as EMGs joint injections ultrasound-guided injections and medication-assisted treatment (MAT).

  • Manage acute and chronic pain using evidence-based non-surgical approaches that minimize opioid use.

  • Monitor patient progress in both physical and addiction recovery adjusting care plans accordingly.

  • Educate patients and families about diagnoses rehabilitation strategies and addiction recovery options.

  • Document all clinical encounters accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.

  • Participate in team meetings case conferences addiction recovery planning and quality improvement efforts.

  • Optionally supervise advanced practice providers.

  • Other duties as assigned.



Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MD or DO from an accredited medical institution.

  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.

  • Active and unrestricted medical license in the State of Michigan.

  • DEA license.

  • Demonstrated experience in Addiction Medicine through clinical practice or formal training.

  • Proficiency with medication-assisted treatment (MAT) preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fellowship training in pain medicine sports medicine spinal cord injury brain injury musculoskeletal medicine or addiction medicine.

  • Experience in EMG/NCS and other diagnostic procedures.

  • Familiarity with outpatient rehab inpatient rehab addiction treatment programs or interventional procedures.

  • Strong communication skills and a team-oriented approach.

  • Compassionate stigma-free care philosophy toward individuals with substance use disorders.
