Pay Grade: L
Under general supervision provides professional nursing care in accordance with nurse protocols policies and/or procedures. Focuses on the prevention of illness injury or disability the promotion of health and maintenance of the health of populations. Cares for population with special needs during disasters/emergencies and biological and chemical protocols.
Works under protocols to provide direct care and case management and educates the public on health practices that promote health and prevent disease. Some services may be provided in various settings including clinics homes or in the community as deemed appropriate.
Provides direct patient care services as an expanded role nurse.
Participates in community outreach and health promotion events.
Participates in QA/QI activities including chart review strategic planning initiation of new programs and services protocol development and other working groups as assigned.
Oversees and participates in emergency preparedness efforts in partnership with District and local agencies and stakeholders.
Completes initial and annual training requirements and participates in ongoing education including emergency preparedness HIPAA and Bloodborne Pathogens training.
Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Associate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of nursing experience and completion of a PHN course within one year of hire and current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license and CPR certification; or one (1) year of experience at the lowerlevel PH Registered Nurse 1 (HCP190) or position equivalent.

DPH accepts educational credentials recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE). DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degree diploma licensure etc.
The candidate selected for this position may be subject to pre-employment drug screening and a criminal background check.
