Position Overview The Cronos Operator and Fitting role is primarily responsible for operating the Cronos automated sewing machine to produce high-quality precision-stitched fabric products in alignment with customer specifications and project requirements. This individual is also responsible for fitting fabrics to frames and supporting finishing tasks. Secondary responsibilities include performing visual and functional quality checks to ensure that productsespecially those produced using the Cronos machinemeet Tectonics high standards for craftsmanship and quality. Essential Job Functions Primary Cronos Operation & Fitting - Operate the Cronos automated sewing machine ensuring proper setup thread selection tension and tooling based on project requirements.
- Interpret work orders patterns and templates to guide machine operation and fitting process.
- Fit and stretch fabric onto frames or structures adjusting for tension and alignment to meet precise visual and functional standards.
- Collaborate with the Sewing and Production teams to ensure workflow efficiency and job accuracy.
- Perform visual functional and dimensional inspections on Cronos-produced items and other fabric products as needed.
- Prepare fabric and frames for fitting: label Velcro and lay out materials in a clean environment.
- Photograph fitted fabrics and frames and provide documentation to Sales and Project Management teams.
- Assist in securely packing fabrics and frames to prevent damage during shipping and handling.
- Build and disassemble frames ensuring all components are present and intact.
- Communicate inspection outcomes and fitting concerns to supervisors and relevant departments.
- Maintain inventory of packing and labeling supplies used during fitting and final prep stages.
- Assist with general housekeeping and organization of the fitting and quality control areas.
Qualifications - Experience operating industrial sewing equipment; automated sewing or CNC sewing machine experience (Cronos or similar) preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Comfortable working with large-scale textiles and framing systems.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Must be proficient in math able to use measuring devices able to understand dimensions and proportions.
- Ability to multi-task various projects with high level of detail
- Must be a team player with a positive attitude and strong time management skills
- Frequent use of climbing (ladders and tables) while holding fabric
- Must be able to read and understand all job orders.
Physical Demands - Requires standing walking or bending for entire shift.
- Ability to frequently lift/move up to 50 pounds.
Work Conditions - Must be able to work extended hours with little advance notice to meet project deadlines.
- Must be capable of completing tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Manufacturing environment: may be exposed to fumes airborne particles dust or dirt.
