Job Description
The Senior FX Artist is both a technical and artistic expert capable of handling complex hero-level FX addition to contributing directly to the creative vision this role helps define best practices improves workflows and supports the rest of the FX team through mentorship and collaboration.
Responsibilities
Production
Execute complex FX tasks including hero shots and large-scale simulations.
Customize and optimize FX setups for performance and reusability.
Balance visual quality with efficiency in heavy simulations.
Proactively solve creative and technical challenges.
Suggest improvements to tools workflows and documentation.
Follow artistic direction closely and integrate feedback accurately.
Demonstrate motivation to learn and grow within a production environment.
Collaboration
Collaborate with supervisors and leads on look development.
Mentor and support mid-level and junior FX artists.
Participate actively in reviews dailies and knowledge-sharing sessions.
Communicate clearly and effectively with other departments.
Qualifications :
Advanced proficiency in Houdini (SOPs DOPs VEX etc.).
Strong problem-solving abilities and artistic sensibility.
Experience with FX rendering workflows and optimization techniques.
Good eye for detail motion and visual storytelling.
Team-oriented autonomous and proactive mindset.
Basic knowledge of Nuke or FX compositing fundamentals.
Basic English communication skills.
Optional skills (a plus)
Python or VEX scripting for tool development.
Familiarity with fluid solvers grains pyro vellum or related FX systems.
Knowledge of ShotGrid or similar production tracking tools.
Understanding of FX lighting and integration into the 3D pipeline.
Additional Information :
The person in this role will work closely with our Paris studio in a bilingual environment as well as with international partners talent and clients. They will regularly interact with non-French-speaking stakeholders across various productions and strategic communications in order to present and promote the creative and technical strengths of Mikros Animation on a global scale.
