Job Description
George Fox University is seeking to fill multiple part-time adjunct instructor positions in the Department of English and Languages beginning August 15 2025. These instructors will teach in-person sections of Writing 111 the universitys first-year composition course.
Writing 111 focuses on the writing argumentation and critical thinking skills necessary for success in academic and professional environments including research strategies relevant to contemporary writing contexts. Enrollment in each in-person section is capped at 20 students and students are required to enroll in the course by their third semester at George Fox.

Job Responsibilities Include but Are Not Limited To:
- Teach WRIT 111 courses.
- Teach courses in alignment with the universitys mission and learning objectives.
- Develop and implement effective instructional strategies that promote student engagement.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback on student work.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance grades and student performance.
- Utilize the universitys learning management system (Canvas) for course management.
- Maintain professionalism and adhere to university policies.
- Communicate effectively and courteously with others including employees students and the public in a spirit of teamwork respect and service.
- Serve as a Christian role model to students both inside and outside the classroom.
- Demonstrated experience working cross culturally with respect appreciation and humility.
- Other duties as assigned.
We Are Looking for Candidates Who Have:
- A masters degree are enrolled in an MA program and/or demonstrated experience as a teacher of writing.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States. This position does not offer visa sponsorship; therefore only applicants who do not require sponsorship for employment visas now or at any point in the future should apply.
- A commitment to the Universitys Theology of Racial and Ethnic Diversity.
- A desire to work with a diverse community of students and employees who represent various cultures backgrounds abilities ethnicities political views and expressions of Christian faith.
- A personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a addition employees agree to live in agreement with the Community Lifestyle Statement and affirm the theological commitments expressed in the Statement of Faith.
Preference Will be Given to Those Who Have the Following Attributes:
- Experience teaching first-year college writing.
