Job Description

Coach: Marksmanship

Classification: Exempt

Qualifications:

Valid Missouri Teachers certificate or eligibility for Missouri Teachers certification preferred but not required

Experience with coaching preferred

Experience with marksmanship with an energetic and enthusiastic demeanor

Certification in First Aid and CPR or willingness to become certified

Valid drivers license

Reports to (Daily): Naval Science Instructor

Position Overview: The School District of Washington is seeking a marksmanship coach for its award-winning program. The marksmanship coach will instruct students in grades 8 through 12 who are enrolled and actively involved in the NJROTC program. The marksmanship program operates during our school year. Ideal candidates demonstrate the ability to form safe relationships with students effective oral and written communication skills high level organizational skills and the ability to work with multiple stakeholder groups. This position has a key role in fostering a positive productive and safe environment for students participating in the NJROTC program.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for forming teams and providing them with high-level training and competitions.
  2. Acts as a representative of the school and community in a professional manner.
  3. Responsibility for setting up organizing and leading practice and cleaning up when practice concludes.
  4. Consistent and regular communication with the Naval Science Instructor reporting on practice and competition results.
  5. Promote a team-oriented environment including goal setting accountability and clear expectations.
  6. Promote sportsmanship foster character development and monitor the progress of individual team members.
  7. Supervise students at practice during competition on District transportation etc.
  8. Regular and reliable attendance is necessary in order to perform the functions of this position.
  9. Perform associated roles as required for building operations and to respond in the event of an emergency.
  10. Perform other related duties as assigned or required for District operations.

Other Related Responsibilities:

  1. Maintains appropriate student records and timelines.
  2. Maintain equipment and resources.
  3. Attend meetings as necessary for general operations related to this program.
  4. Maintains confidential nature of all school related material.

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: The Marksmanship Coach schedule runs concurrently with our posted academic/teacher calendar (183 days). This position is a stipend position paid at 2.5% of the posted teacher salary schedule column BS16. Entry level into the column is dependent on experience with a limit of step 11. This position has a weekly time commitment of approximately two practices per week plus weekend competitions throughout the school year.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Naval Science Instructor in conjunction with the Washington High School Administrative team.

PHYSICAL MENTAL AND VISUAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to stand walk and sit. Additionally the employee may occasionally be required to push or lift up to 50 lbs as necessary for the safety and well-being of others. Lastly this job requires the employee to have the vision ability to read handwritten or typed materials and meet multiple demands from several people while interacting with other staff and the public.
