TITLE: Life Education Center Program Director/Educator
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Holds a bachelors degree or higher in a relevant area to education guidance or student services.
- Holds a current teaching certificate (Elementary Secondary Special Substitute or General Administrative)
- Perform physical activities including but not limited to standing walking running and climbing.
- Possesses leadership skills to coordinate and supervise staff
- Possess a valid Illinois Drivers License.
- Other qualifications as deemed necessary by the Regional Superintendent
- Any of the above qualifications may be waived by the Regional Superintendent when necessary
REPORTS TO: Regional Superintendent of Schools
SUPERVISES: Life Education Center Educators Life Education Center Administrative Assistants.
JOB GOALS: The Life Education Center Program Director oversees all aspects of the Life Education Center Programs for the I-KAN Regional Office of Education. The Director serves on coalitions in Kankakee and Iroquois counties establishing and maintaining relationships with building superintendents principals educators and community partners to ensure the implementation and delivery of prevention activities and services throughout Kankakee and Iroquois counties.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise four educators and one support staff member who are in collaboration with nearly 700 teachers serving approximately 14000 students in 60 schools in Kankakee and Iroquois counties.
- Oversee and implement federal state and community grant initiatives entailing budgets quarterly and annual reports and day-to-day operations.
- Collect data from principals parents teachers and students for program assessment and improvement.
- Deliver Life Education Center prevention education focusing on healthy lifestyle choices and supporting social and emotional development.
- Deliver evidence-based Youth Prevention Education aimed at reducing alcohol use in the middle school grades and coordinating the delivery of medication safety curriculum.
- Implement and maintain communication campaigns addressing alcohol and prescription drugs.
- Oversee the development of parent education programs and outreach communication.
- Create and implement the Illinois Youth Survey Plan to administer the survey to schools in Kankakee and Iroquois counties.
- Raise awareness regarding drug take-back programs and keep current with drug take-back location sites along with promoting National Prescription Drug Take-Back Days.
- Ensure all required documentation is completed and submitted in the Prevention HUB.
- Attend all required grantee training programs meetings and webinars as scheduled.
- Coordinate and facilitate LEC staff meetings.
- Foster partnerships with community partners.
- Comply with employee procedures included in the I-KAN Employee Handbook.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Salary Range : $30-$40 per hour
