of Job Duties:The IT Support Specialist II will provide technical support in all aspects of department operations. This support will include direct service to students faculty and staff. The specialist will monitor and triage support requests for distribution amongst the remainder of departments IT staff. Other duties include configuration of computers peripherals printers mobile devices and other electronic devices. The Computer Support Specialist will also assist with basic audio-video support to instructors using classroom technology. The Computer Support Specialist participates in a wide variety of activities in the realm of technical support for the faculty and staff of the College of Engineering.
Additional duties include providing IT and A/V support for departmental events. All department staff contribute to various events and meetings such as AAIE banquets and meetings student banquets and receptions Liaison Committee meeting and other special gatherings as needed. As such infrequent after-hours work is required.

There is an in-person component to this support position and the selected employee should be prepared to work from the assigned location during the assigned schedule.

Some examples of these activities include but are not limited to:
- Building out and maintaining hybrid Intune environment for management of Windows devices
- Imaging new Windows devices for deployment to faculty and staff
- Assisting faculty and staff with data migration
- Supporting software installed on department-owned computers
- Configuring printers and other computer peripherals
- Diagnosing hardware problems in computers and other electronic devices
- Using remote support tools to monitor diagnose and support technological issues
- Documenting support cases clearly and accurately using IT Support Management software
- Other duties as assigned

Regular reliable and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty. The position requires close collaboration with others in the department and maintaining professional collegial interactions is essential.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in computer science information technology or a related field from an accredited institution of higher education

  • At least two years of relevant experience in IT/computer support operation

Applicable equivalencies may be considered on the above qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Work history that demonstrates providing high-level customer service and computer support both face-to-face and remote

  • Computer support experience within the University of Arkansas system

  • Experience with Windows Linux and macOS administration

  • Experience supporting specialized software used in Industrial Engineering such as R VSCode Intelli J

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Active Directory Azure and other enterprise computing platforms

Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to analyze computer support system problems and devise corrective measures

  • Knowledge of the limitations and use of all recent and current versions of Windows and Mac operating systems

  • Knowledge and familiarity with audio-video devices such as projectors and control systems

  • Ability and emphasis on delivering a high quality of customer service

  • Knowledge and familiarity with the installation use and support of common software packages such as Microsoft Office email clients digital calendars and chat clients

  • Knowledge of basic networking principles Active Directory Services and Azure

  • Ability to learn new software and new technologies

  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills
