In School Suspension
Mt. Blue High School
JobGoal(s): The In-School Suspension (ISS) Monitor is responsible for supervising high school students assigned to in-school suspension. The monitor ensures that students remain on task with their academic work in a structured respectful and distraction-free environment while promoting positive behavior and accountability.
Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm fair and consistent in managing student behavior.
- Familiarity with school discipline procedures and restorative practices is a plus.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
Certifications
- Maine DOE Certification - Ed Tech III
Performance Responsibilities
- Supervise and monitor students assigned to ISS throughout the school day.
- Maintain a quiet structured and respectful environment conducive to learning.
- Distribute and collect academic assignments provided by classroom teachers.
- Track student attendance compliance and completion of work while in ISS.
- Communicate regularly with administrators teachers counselors and parents regarding student progress and behavior.
- Enforce school rules behavioral expectations and disciplinary guidelines.
- Support students in reflecting on their behavior and choices encouraging accountability and improvement.
- Report incidents or concerns to school administration as needed.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Ensure the physical and emotional safety of all students in the ISS room.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associates or bachelors degree preferred.
Experience
- Experience working with adolescents in an educational or behavioral setting preferred.

- Travel between schools or district buildingsmay be required at times
Reports To:Building Principal
Terms of Employment: As determined annually by the District.
Evaluation:Completed annually by Principal or their designee.
