Job Summary:
This role is for a CT Technologist responsible for performing and assisting with computed tomography procedures including patient preparation image acquisition and post-processing. The technologist will work in a fast-paced environment collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality patient care. The position requires proficiency in various CT techniques adherence to radiation safety protocols and competency in operating medical imaging equipment and software.
Location: Salisbury North Carolina United States.
Responsibilities:
- Performing computed tomography (CT) scans according to physician orders.
- Preparing patients for procedures including explaining the process and addressing concerns.
- Administering contrast media as prescribed.
- Performing venipuncture.
- Evaluating image quality and ensuring accurate patient identification and anatomical laterality.
- Maintaining accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) radiology information system (RIS) and picture archiving and communication system (PACS).
- Adhering to radiation safety protocols and minimizing radiation exposure.
- Operating and maintaining CT equipment.
- Assisting with interventional CT procedures.
- Receiving relaying and documenting verbal written and electronic orders.
- Performing aspirations and biopsies.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Associates degree in Radiologic Technology or equivalent.
- Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) certification (R).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- ARRT Advanced Certification.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a CT Technologist.
- Proficiency in various CT techniques including abdomen pelvis chest head and neck spine and musculoskeletal imaging.
- Experience with contrast media administration and venipuncture.
- Experience with PACS and RIS systems.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of radiation safety protocols and ALARA principles.
- Experience with Siemens CT scanners preferred.
- Experience with McKesson unit systems.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Experience with pediatric acute care.
- Proficiency in multiplanar reconstruction (MPR).
- Experience with biopsies colonography and drainage procedures.
- Experience with vascular CTAs.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Experience with extremities abdomen/GI spine/pelvis head chest/thorax musculoskeletal imaging fluoroscopy studies lower extremities upper extremities and enema studies.
Special Considerations:
- On-call requirement of 3 days every 4 weeks with a 30-minute response time.
- Floating between the ER scanner and the main department scanner.
- Return-to-office (RTO) is not allowed.
- First-time travelers are accepted.
- Community hospital experience and adult acute care experience are preferred.
Scheduling:
- 3 twelve-hour shifts (3x12s) and 1 ten-hour shift (1x10) per week totaling 37 hours.
- Wednesday Thursday Friday 10 PM - 7 AM Saturday 9 PM - 7 AM.
