GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Veterans Home of Wyoming is looking for a caring and compassionate individual to maintain a clean sanitary and safe environment for veterans who live at the facility. This facility is located at the base of the beautiful Big Horn Mountains and provides many recreational activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed in the job level.DUTIES MAYINCLUDE THE FOLLOWING FOR HOUSEKEEPING:- Cleans the bathrooms and takes out the garbage.
- Cleans and sanitizes floors walls windows and furniture.
- Determines appropriate chemical solutions for cleaning and disinfection.
- Changes linens on client beds.
- Uses universal precaution processes in the cleaning and disposal of biohazard waste.
- Identifies areas that need repair and notifies the proper person.
- Stocks supplies and chemicals for the unit.
- Assists in the laundry with the washing drying and redistributing of the residents clothes as needed.
- Provides safety awareness for staff and clients.
- Sorts and weighs laundry.
- Loads and unloads washers and dryers.
- Inspects wash at various stages of processing for cleanliness; recommends changes in washing and rinsing procedures.
- Charts and logs quantities of laundry collected and processed.
- Test samples of water periodically to determine the hardness of water and the effectiveness of cleaning agents and stain removers.
- Monitors chemical pump system and changes out chemical containers; changes tubing to pumps as needed.
- Folds clothing.
- Delivers clothing and linens as needed.
- Assists with housekeeping with cleaning duties.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledge of cleaning methods and practices.
- Knowledge of cleansers supplies and equipment.
- Knowledge of basic math.
- Knowledge of state and facility policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of universal precautions.
- Knowledge of emergency procedures cleaning methods materials and equipment.
- Knowledge of infection control standards.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education:High School DiplomaExperience:0-6 months of progressive work experience (typically in Housekeeping)OREducation & ExperienceSubstitution:1-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Housekeeping)Certificates Licenses Registrations:NoneNecessary Special Requirements
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand walk and work on concrete floors 8 hours/day.
- Ability to move in a side-to-side motion to sweep and mop floors.
NOTES:
- FLSA: Non-exempt
- Position is full-time
- For the health and protection of our residents annual influenza vaccination is required as well as annual testing for tuberculosis.
- A background check including the taking of fingerprints will be completed through the Wyoming Department of Criminal Investigation the Department of Family Services and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for every successful applicant.
