Job Duties:

We are excited to offer a unique opportunity to join UW Veterinary Care in a brand-new role within our developing Surgical Oncology service. Were seeking a self-motivated highly skilled veterinary nurse who thrives in an independent setting communicates effectively and can manage multiple priorities with ease.

This role is ideal for someone eager to contribute to the success of a growing specialty service. You will collaborate closely with our Radiation Oncology and Medical Oncology teams offering excellent exposure and support should you choose to pursue your Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) certification in the future.

The anticipated schedule for this position is Monday - Friday from 7:00am - 3:30pm with a 30-minute unpaid lunch.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Assisting medical and / or radiation oncology as needed

  • Surgical preparation and postoperative care

  • Maintains organization of and updates records related to medical procedures and billing
  • Monitors animal health status and records notifies veterinarian when status changes and ensures care plans are completed and recorded in the medical record
  • Completes routine laboratory tests and collects specimen according to established medical orders and care plans
  • Assists with the execution of more complex animal care procedures and affiliated activities
  • Documents and disseminates results to the appropriate entities
  • Tracks supply inventory levels and places replenishment orders
  • Serves as a point of contact for animal owners and stakeholders providing information and answering questions
  • Prepares completes and documents basic technical animal care procedures assessments and medication administration according to established care plans and medical necessity
  • Recheck nurse appointments and owner follow-up for surgical patients

Compensation:

$19.00 per hour minimum

Sign-on Bonus of 3% of base pay (based on FTE) to be paid over the first year of employment!
