Instructor - Early Childhood
Supervisor: Department Supervisor and/or Principal/Designee
Summary/Objective: Facilitates the instruction of all students including students with special needs and disabilities by the development implementation and evaluation of special education Individualized Education Plans. Comply with requirements of ORC 3301.54 including but not limited to being of good character possess adequate physical and emotional health be equipped by education training and/or experience for the work they are to perform.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in education from an accredited college or university
- Secure and maintain a valid Ohio Educator License as required by placement or assignment
- Hold or complete a current Ohio BCI and Federal Background check free of disqualifying infractions
- Comply with drug-free workplace rules and board policies
- Participate (and pass where applicable) in all required training including but not limited to: Bloodborne Pathogens Crisis Intervention Educator Ethics etc.
- Embody high ethical standards integrity and accept responsibility for decisions and conduct
- Efficiently operate Google Applications including Gmail Drive Sheets Docs etc.
- Adhere to the Stark County Educational Service Center (SCESC) Governing Board policies/administrative guidelines/staff handbook policies of the assigned district/worksite and the to the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Educators
- Promote the proper use care and security of SCESC property and report misconduct vandalism equipment malfunctions and other concerns
- Advance the professional image of the SCESC and affiliate districts
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with coworkers and colleagues promoting a cohesive work environment
- Report suspected child abuse and/or neglect to supervisor and/or civil authorities as required by law
- A medical statement signed by a licensed physician assistant advanced practice registered nurse or a certified nurse practitioner that documents that they are free of communicable disease and fit to work with children dated on or before the first day of employment
- Ensure students safety
- Maintain confidentiality of student related information
Essential Functions:
- Maintain a demonstrated philosophy that all students can and will learn
- Prepare and maintain the classroom as student-centered age-appropriate learning space
- Plan implement and evaluate daily learning activities based
- Participate in the development and/or implementation of individual education plans
- Organize appropriate subject content and learning goals aligned with the state standards and individual education plan goals and objectives while assisting students to achieve learning objectives
- Develop and implement behavior management plans that meet student needs
- Communicate professional and regularly with parents and support agencies in an effort to involve them in the educational process (eg. phone calls emails written notes meetings educational software etc)
- Produce manage and complete the necessary documentation and paperwork for charting educational progress
- Assist in coordinating all support services to meet student needs
- Adhere to the rules and regulations that relate to IDEA and/or other state/federal programs as applicable
- Provide direction and training to para-professionals aides and teaching assistants in the classroom setting
- Facilitate opportunities for students to participate in inclusion settings implementing prescribed medical plans and/or behavior plans when necessary
- Perform other specific duties as assigned

- Balancing bending crouching kneeling reaching and standing
- Lifting carrying and moving work-related supplies and/or equipment
- Operate and/or ride in a vehicle
- Work at various heights in confined spaces and/or invariable/diminished lighting
- Report misconduct or violations of policy and procedures to the direct supervisor appropriate administrator or legal authority (mandating reporting)

Job performance is evaluated according to the policy and procedures adopted by the Stark County Educational Service Center Governing Board.
