Our client a reputable and well-established group of companies is seeking a dedicated experienced and hands-on Controller to join their team in Windsor Nova Scotia.Known for their professionalism and long-standing success in the region this permanent opportunity offers the opportunity to play a key leadership role within a dynamic and respected company.
Key Responsibilities for the Job:
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations including A/P A/R and payroll
- Job costing and general ledger maintenance
- Oversee project budgeting cost tracking and variance analysis
- Preparation of financial statements reports and forecasts
- Manage month-end and year-end closing processes
- Develop implement and monitor internal controls and accounting policies
- Collaborate with project managers to ensure financial efficiency and job profitability
- Manage cash flow banking relationships and financing needs
- Work with external auditors and manage year-end audit processes
- Provide financial insight and strategic recommendations to senior leadership
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff
Experience & Attributes for Success:
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is required
- 510 years of progressive accounting experience preferably in a similar real estate and/or property development environment
- Proficient in accounting software including Microsoft Excel
- Excellent organizational analytical and leadership skills
- Ability to think big-picture while managing the day-to-day details
- A proactive mindset and passion for innovation
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders
