OVERVIEW
Marathon Petroleum Company LP has openings for Maintenance Interns at its refinery in Robinson Illinois. The goal of this position is to provide hands-on learning experience to selected candidates to support academic development aligned with coursework in their program. This internship will give the intern an opportunity to develop and apply knowledge technical skills and interpersonal skills in the workplace under the direction of Maintenance employees.
As a Maintenance Intern at Marathons Robinson Refinery you can expect to become familiar with industry codes and best practices build critical thinking skills and gain hands-on experience in real world application of your studies. You will gain knowledge of various aspects of a refinery by working with a team of professionals who are critical to plant maintenance.

Positions are available spring summer and fall semesters (opportunities for extension)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Promotes a positive and collaborative work environment demonstrating a strong commitment to teamwork efficiency and high-quality standards.
Assists Craftsmen in performing maintenance activities in accordance with established written procedures and industry best practices.
Assists in ensuring accurate and thorough documentation of work performed adhering to company standards.
Responsible for maintaining a clean and organized work environment including general site and workshop cleanup.
Demonstrates adherence to Marathons safe work practices maintaining a strong commitment to safety and compliance
Opportunities are available for internships in the following positions:
Instrument Technician
Supports Craftsmen in the installation testing calibration troubleshooting and repair of field instruments including transmitters transducers controllers switches solenoids relays control valves regulators actuators positioners and instrument loops.
Supports a production-oriented environment by maintaining electrical equipment through established troubleshooting techniques and methodologies with expertise in low and medium voltage equipment preferred.
Electrician
Supports general electrical maintenance tasks including wiring repairs lighting and circuit breaker upkeep to ensure continued operational efficiency.
Assists with interpreting and utilizing electrical one-line diagrams schematics and operates electrical testing equipment to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
Machinist/Millwright
Assists Craftsmen with the repair and maintenance of refinery machinery including pumps compressors turbines valves gearboxes and other critical refinery equipment both in the shop and in the field.
Provides support to Craftsmen in the operation of shop equipment such as lathes mills balancers drill presses and other machinery ensuring efficient and safe equipment usage.
Garage
Assists with routine maintenance tasks including oil changes tire rotations and vehicle inspections and support the servicing of heavy equipment.
Helps maintain a clean and organized garage environment ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored and the work area is safe and free of debris.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum (Required) Qualifications:
Enrollment in a two-year Advanced Manufacturing Automation program electrical machine or similar programs
Good academic standing (minimum 2.0 GPA)
Valid drivers license
Must be legally authorized to work in the US on a full-time indefinite basis without the need for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future
Military Experience a plus
PAY AND BENEFITS
Hourly Rate: $26.27/hour
Retirement: 401k with a company match up to 7%

SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS
Interns will work a part-time schedule with workdays Mon-Thu with no more than 30 hours a week worked without supervisor approval.
