Position Summary
The Bhatt laboratory studies the contribution of intestinal microbiota in the response to medications used for different diseases such as inflammatory bowel diseases. We are seeking a research technician to uncover how microbiota respond to certain medications used to treat ulcerative colitis and Crohns diseases. Specifically the technician will use bioinformatics bioanalytical chemistry and biochemistry to examine the metabolism of immunomodulatory drugs used for IBD . Research tasks will include culturing aerobic and anaerobic bacteria and related microbiology biochemical assays (e.g. enzyme activity assays) mass spectrometry (e.g. examining adduct formation developing de novo methods) and data analysis related to these experimental techniques.
Required Qualifications Competencies And Experience
Experience working in a bioanalytical chemistry/chemical biology/biochemistry focused research lab with a track record of independently driving research projects that is evident in a publication record. Must have extensive experience with LC triple quadrupole LC-MS/MS to identify chemical adducts multiple reaction monitoring. Must have microbiology experience. Applicant also must have experience teaching and training undergraduate and graduate students. The applicant must have excellent organizational abilities.

- Experience with aerobic and anaerobic bacteria - Analyzing large MS datasets - Past record of securing funding is a huge plus
Work Schedule
Monday Friday 0900 AM 1700 PM (hourly); frequent weekends and after hours anticipated due to instrument availability.
