Job Description

FORT VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY (FVSU) a state and land-grant institution of the University System of Georgia invites applications for the position of Nursing Clinical Instructor.

Fort Valley State University the only 1890 land-grant university in Georgia is a comprehensive institution that provides an education to over 2800 students including graduate students. The university is located in the town of Fort Valley in Peach County the original site of the states peach industry. Its 1365-acre (5.52 km2) campus is Georgias second-largest public university in area.

JOB SUMMARY:

Fort Valley State University Department of Nursing is seeking part-time clinical instructors for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervision and evaluation of 8-10 nursing students in the hospital clinic community simulation and lab setting.
  • Grade clinical assignments and complete weekly midterm and final student evaluations.
  • Provide students with timely feedback regarding clinical performance.
  • Work in collaboration with the course coordinator
  • Attend departmental meetings and in-services.
  • Develops a positive relationship with administrators and nursing staff at clinical facilities.
  • Comply with policies and procedures set forth by the Department of Nursing and clinical facilities.
  • Participate in professional development to remain current in nursing education and practice.
  • Acts as a role model for students and peers.
  • Exhibits professional and ethical morals beliefs and values.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Master of Science in Nursing preferred.
  • An unencumbered Registered Professional Nurse License in the state of Georgia.
  • Three (3) years experience in professional nursing practice.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with a team.
  • Successful completion of a background check and urine drug screen.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Standing for extended periods of time.
  • Lifting and carrying objects weighing 25-50 lbs. may be required.
