Job Duties:

The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences (DOVS) is seeking candidates for a Neuro-Ophthalmology position that will involve patient care teaching and research. Clinical activities will include patient care at local UW Health clinic locations. Teaching activities will involve medical students residents and fellows. Research activities may include participation in clinical trials and/or translational research.

This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.

Key Job Responsibilities:

- At least a 40% FTE neuro-ophthalmology practice within the UW Department of Ophthalmology at one or more of its ophthalmology care sites.
- If not a full-time position in neuro-ophthalmology of 80% FTE then an additional 40% FTE in any other ophthalmology practice (with appropriate certified residency and fellowship training) in: comprehensive ophthalmology glaucoma oculoplastic surgery ophthalmic pathology pediatric ophthalmology/adult strabismus as examples; neurology practice if a certified neurologist; research if clinician-scientist; or neuro-ophthalmology/neurology practice in another non-UW ophthalmology/neurology practice.
- 20% FTE for administration teaching etc.


The successful applicant will participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.

The starting salary for the position is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications:

-Board-certified or board eligible for Wisconsin Medical License by start of position.

-Completion of a U.S. Neuro-Ophthalmology accredited residency and fellowship by start date of the position.

-Relevant experience in clinical practice.
-Interest in medical student and resident education.

Preferred Qualifications:

-For an appointment at Associate Professor or Professor rank on CHS Track candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CHS Track.

Education:

MD or DO or equivalent required.
