School Psychologist

Attleboro High School (0.7) and K-8 Insights Thacher Elementary and Brennan Middle (0.3)

Start date: August 26 2025 (orientation days prior)

Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology or related degree
  • Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in School Psychology/ Specialists Degree in School Psychology
  • National Certification in School Psychology preferred
  • MA DESE licensure School Psychologist (ALL) and MA Board License
  • Exceptions to the above qualifications shall be made as the Superintendent deems appropriate and acceptable.

Job Purpose

  • To conduct evaluations of studentsin the Special Education process; provide short-term counseling for students in crisis; and consult with all staff to facilitate delivery of education in a manner which is suited to children developmentally.

Reports to: School Principal and Director of Special Education and Student Support Services or designee

Performance Responsibilities

  1. Evaluate cognitive social and emotional functioning and needs of students referred
  2. Meet with parents as needed to obtain background information and/or to suggest interventions to provide support for and carry-over of Special Education services at home
  3. Meet with TEAM as required under Special Education/504 regulations and laws
  4. Observe students in classroom environment to determine if referral for Special Education evaluation is appropriate and as a basis for consultation
  5. Consults withGeneral Education and Special Education staff about interventions and modifications to benefit students in the classroom
  6. Provide crisis prevention and intervention services
  7. Counsel students with social/emotional/behavioral needs
  8. Work collaboratively with teachers administrators and school counselor to identify student and school wide needs and develop action plans to address those needs
  9. Submit all reports IEPs and mandated paperwork within mandated timelines
  10. Conduct parent and or staff development sessions
  11. Maintain inventory of appropriate tests materials and supplies
  12. Conduct groups as needed to meet the social/emotional needs of students
  13. Keeps current in the field of school psychology and attends conferences and meetings for professional development
  14. Other duties as may be assigned

Skills:
1. Experience with Safety Care.
2. Experience withstudents who use a total communication approach.

Salary: Per AEA contract with stipend
