You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailJoin the Mowat Laboratory and help us research the natural aging of the brain and senses. We study companion (pet) dogs using behavioral and nonbehavioral methods. This role offers training and certification in animal care use and human subjects research. Motivated individuals will find many opportunities for career advancement and intellectual involvement in the research. Tasks involved in the position include (but are not limited to):
Participates in the development interpretation and implementation of research methodology and materials
Preparing supplies and materials for clinical visits. Managing samples from clinical visits
Assist and complete clinical visits with client-owned dogs including but not limited to behavioral tests clinical examination blood draw ophthalmic imaging electrophysiologic testing
Use of data management software including Microsoft excel LabArchives and REDCap
Recruiting and scheduling participants for dog clinical study participation
Reviews analyzes and interprets data and/or documents results for presentations and/or reporting to internal and external audiences
Provides operational guidance on day-to-day activities of unit or program staff and/or student workers
Operates cleans and maintains organization of research equipment and research area. Tracks inventory levels and places replenishment orders

The starting salary for the position is $45000 (but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
Critical thinking and strong attention to detail.
Competence in dog handling is preferred.
Previous research experience is helpful but not essential.
Familiarity with digital data entry (Excel REDCap) is preferred.
A long-term interest in working in a research environment is a plus.
Certified Veterinary Technicians are welcome to apply as the work involves client owned pets.
Associates Degree required; focus on biological sciences (animal science) preferred
Bachelors Degree preferred; focus on biological sciences (animal science) preferred.
