Job Description

Events Coordinator
Department: Events Office
Location: Columbia MO
Type: Staff Full-time
Pay:$18.26 to $19 per hour (Pay range may vary based on geographic location)

Job Summary:
The Events Coordinator will support the Director of Events.

Essential Functions:
  • Perform job duties in accordance with Columbia Colleges vision mission and values and contributes to the development of
  • the Enrollment Management & Marketing Athletics and Events Department.
  • Practice superior customer service.
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned.
  • Display respect and civility to all constituencies in all communications.
  • Represent the Events Office and the College in a proper manner at all times.
  • Assist with planning organization and implementation of the departmental goals.
  • Attend work timely and on a regular basis during the established hours of operation; work additional hours as business necessitates.
  • Perform job duties in accordance with Columbia Colleges vision mission and values and contributes to the development of
  • the Enrollment Management & Marketing Athletic and Events department.
  • Collaborate with the Events Office staff to formulate and assess progress towards short- and long-term strategic plans.
  • Assist with oversight of the day-to-day activities of the Events Office.
  • Assist with acquisition of student workers including requisition interview and recommendation for hire.
  • Provide leadership and direction Student workers Interns or Graduate Assistants.
  • Assist with maintaining the various budgets within Events Office.
  • Coordinate management of all major events for the College with Events staff Technology Services Public Relations and other College staff as necessary.
  • Assist other departments with internal departmental events
  • Assist with coordination of outside events as necessary
  • Assist with the creation event planning documents and templates.
  • Assist with the Colleges digital Event Management System.

Supervisory Responsibility: Student Workers (list position(s) or department(s))


Position reports to: Director of Events
Required Core Competencies and Professional Experience:
  • Ability to fluently read write and understand the English language.
  • Proficiency with the following but not limited to: active listening; speaking; writing; critical thinking; judgment and decision making; monitoring; reading comprehension; time management; coordination; and management of personnel resources.
  • Proficiency for using a variety of computer and technology-related software and equipment including Microsoft Office products and database systems.
  • Proficiency in using web-based technologies including database systems.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment with or without direct supervision.
  • Excellent communication interpersonal customer service and organizational skills.
  • Excellent computer skills including InDesign or comparable programs.
  • One or two years experience in event planning or related field.
Preferred Core Competencies and Professional Experience:
  • Bachelors degree.
  • Previous work with higher education Event Management System software.

Other Requirements: Ability to satisfy within the parameters set by the College and consistent with applicable federal state and local laws a criminal background check as a condition of employment.

  • Evening and weekend hours required.
