Basic Job Functions:
Nucor Steel Jackson is seeking a lead HVAC/R technician who will promote safety as our #1 value while ensuring consistency and reliability in mill operations. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor. The lead technician must promote safety for themselves and their teammates.
- This person will have overall responsibility for maintenance repair and installation of all HVAC/R equipment onsite.
- This role involves ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and optimal system performance troubleshooting issues and strict adherence to safety expectations.
- This person will be responsible for coordinating contractor support when necessary for larger jobs.
- This person will coordinate purchasing and warehousing of spare part and material inventory related to HVAC/R equipment in the mill.
- Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate lead and uphold safety policies practices procedures and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5-years industrial or commercial HVAC/R maintenance and troubleshooting experience.
- Proof of EPA Section 608 Universal Certification.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to work overtime weekends holidays and rotating shifts as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree or greater in HVACR technology or similar program
- EPA Section 609 Certification for MVAC systems.
- North American Technician Excellence (NATE) Certification
- HVAC Excellence Certification
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with EBS Oracle or other CMMS.
- Familiarity or prior training in NFPA70e Electrical Safety
