Vargo is recruiting a Relationship Manager/Business Development Manager for the West Midlands supported by a national investment team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about driving investment into the region have an established network within the local social sector and bring experience in lending.
Our client tackles poverty and empowers communities by financing sustainable social enterprises and charities through unsecured loans and equity investments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead due diligence on sourced transactions evaluating organisational profile financial viability and social impact.
- Represent potential borrowers with passion and credibility to investment committees.
- Build the investment portfolio by attending regional events networking and developing stakeholder relationships.
- Conduct financial and business analysis to assess opportunities and monitor portfolio health.
- Support risk assessment advising on key social and financial risks and opportunities.
- Contribute to investment strategy development and refinement.
- Prepare investment memos reports and presentations for the Investment Advisory Committee.
- Assist senior management with fund reporting and performance tracking.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (impact comms legal MI portfolio) and encourage a learning culture.
- Promote innovation by embracing diverse perspectives and continuous improvement.
- Advocate for equity and inclusion in all investment activities.
- Share insights and promote the Funds mission across stakeholder groups.
Requirements
- Proven ability to develop business through networking events and stakeholder engagement.
- Skilled in building partnerships and making connections to support social organisations.
- Knowledge of debt investments and SME/corporate credit analysis.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to adapt communication to different audiences.
- Experienced in organising and facilitating meetings workshops and events.
- Capable of documenting key actions and following up effectively.
