About the Work Unit
This work unit in Region 4 (Limon) administers transportation construction and design contracts and oversees the contractors and consultants performing the work. Design activities include developing construction plans specifications and preliminary estimates for advertising budgeted transportation projects along the units specified corridors. Design activities are performed by an in-house design team or administered through design consultant contracts. The designs must adhere to the guidelines standards and policies of the State of Colorado and the Federal Highway Administration while staying within the project scope and budget. Construction activities include materials testing inspection for compliance with the contract plans and specifications quality assurance and control documentation of pay quantities authorization of contract payments initiation and authorization of contract modification orders and monitoring of financial status.
About the Position
Under the guidance supervision of a licensed Professional Engineer this position will learn to apply and implement engineering principles and standards. The EIT I will learn to assist with design projects which includes: scoping new projects estimating project costs developing project schedules analyzing design data generating official reports developing designs and documenting design decisions preparing plans and specifications for advertisement apply and implement engineering principles and standards.

Minimum Qualifications:
Must have a Bachelors Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
*A copy of your transcript or NACES credential report that shows conferral of an engineering degree. A copy of your current transcript(s)mustbe submitted with your application. (See Supplemental Information Section)
Substitution:
Current enrollment as an Engineer-Intern by the Colorado State Board of Licensure for Architects Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors will substitute for the degree.
