If you are looking for a rewarding career please consider the Correctional Sergeant I/Bus Terminal Sergeant opportunity with the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits including health insurance paid vacation paid sick time paid holidays as well as retirement.
This Sergeant position will be assigned to the Prisons Administrations Security Accountability Section.
The positions work location will be Raleigh NC at Prisons Administration two two-thirds of the work schedule.
The other work in this class involvesfirst-line supervision of the Sandy Ridge Bus Terminal (High Point NC) for part of the duty on days that the bus terminal is running approximately 2 days per week.
This position will oversee officer activities and performance and ensure that the custody security and welfare of inmates are maintained.
This position will arrange work schedules to ensure shift coverage implement operational procedures and ensure rules and regulations are followed according to policy.
This position may at times be the highest-ranking custody staff on the grounds or the Officer-in-Charge (OIC). Position reports to a Correctional Lieutenant I and/or a Correctional Assistant Superintendent.
This position ensures that staff are fully trained and that proper conduct actions and procedures are followed.
This position gives direction during drills searches and in emergencies. May lead staff in carrying out tactical assignment(s).
This position responds to emergencies searches for escaped offenders and may help conduct investigations to assist the Security Accountability Section to include offender death reviews and other security functions. Prepares and reviews reports.
Completes annual performance evaluations and assists in assessing evaluating and implementing employee discipline.
Position spends a portion of each workday inspecting the assigned area of responsibility to ensure all custody security and safety regulations are being followed; that the assigned area of responsibility is clean and orderly; that all safety regulations are being followed and corrective actions if applicable are implemented.
Position ensures that staff are alert informed and prepared to perform job responsibilities.
This position will require being a member of the State Emergency Response Team and the Incident Command Structure for Institutions at the Division Level.
