Job Description

Description of Work

If you are looking for a rewarding career please consider the Correctional Sergeant I/Bus Terminal Sergeant opportunity with the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits including health insurance paid vacation paid sick time paid holidays as well as retirement.

This Sergeant position will be assigned to the Prisons Administrations Security Accountability Section.

The positions work location will be Raleigh NC at Prisons Administration two two-thirds of the work schedule.

The other work in this class involvesfirst-line supervision of the Sandy Ridge Bus Terminal (High Point NC) for part of the duty on days that the bus terminal is running approximately 2 days per week.

Note to Current State Employees: The Salary Grade for this position is NC07. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as or lower than their current position. If selected for this position a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience funding availability and internal equity. Based upon these factors a pay increase/decrease MAY result.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma andtwo years of experience as a Correctional Officer;
-OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Necessary Special Qualifications:
Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
