Job Description
The Newark Street School serving children in Grades 1st-8th seeks a 1.0 FTE primary grade teacher to join our school community. The candidate selected will be a primary teacher who is passionate about working with all students in core content areas in the classroom and in outdoor spaces. The candidate will have experience with outdoor education or a willingness to learn about and help establish a thriving primary grades program that has a Exploratory Friday regular invigorating outdoor component. The candidate selected will be part of a teaching team including other teachers special educators and interventionists. The teams PLC co-planning time is dedicated to rigorous core instruction and personalized learning as outlined in the Newark Street Schools Continuous Improvement Plan. Expertise in co-planning integrating project-based learning transferable skills with research-based reading writing and mathematics instruction is a requirement. The school maintains impassioned faculty personalized beliefs about success for all children and a caring safe school culture. We seek a creative passionate teacher who loves working with children in the classroom as well as in nature. A sense of humor and genuine love for working with young people is a necessity. The district provides mentorship and a supportive administration. Newark Street School is part of the Kingdom East School District located in the heart of a vibrant community in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. We operate seven preK-8th grade schools ranging from 60 to 500 students. Our high school students have choice and may opt to attend one of the traditional independent schools -- Lyndon Institute or St. Johnsbury Academy -- or another high school of their choosing. The pay range for this position is currently $42944-$83411. However the teacher contract is currently under negotiation and there will be an increase to this range for the 2025-2026 academic year. The new agreement and salary schedule will be posted on the Kingdom East website at once availableWe are located about 3 hours from Montreal Boston and Portland ME. Our region is known for breathtaking views and access to great skiing hiking mountain biking fishing canoeing and other outdoor opportunities. We are close to the White Mountains and the Green Mountains. Both Littleton NH and St. Johnsbury VT have numerous fine and performing arts venues.
