We are looking for a dynamic and strategic finance leader to serve as Director of FP&A supporting the companys financial planning and performance management across all functions including R&D clinical operations manufacturing and G&A. This highly visible role partners closely with executive leadership to shape financial strategy optimize resource allocation and support data-driven decision-making in a fast-paced innovation-driven environment.
Job Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Planning
Design and execute the companys annual operating budget quarterly forecasts and long-range strategic financial plans ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and growth initiatives.
Integrate complex cross-functional inputsincluding R&D pipeline milestones clinical trial timelines and commercial projectionsinto scenario-based financial models that inform strategic decision-making.
Own the enterprise-wide financial planning calendar driving accountability for timely accurate deliverables and fostering transparent communication across all business units.
Support financial planning and modeling of Business Development transactions.
Performance Management
Deliver comprehensive monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages incorporating detailed variance analyses and strategic insights.
Facilitate financial performance reviews with senior leadership highlighting trends risks and opportunities.
Continuously monitor and interpret key performance indicators (KPIs) translating data into actionable insights that drive operational excellence and strategic alignment across the organization.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
Partner with functional leaders and the accounting team to ensure accurate cost tracking accruals and alignment of actuals with forecasts.
Serve as a strategic thought partner on high-impact initiatives driving scenario planning investment analysis and resource optimization to support long-term value creation.
Education and Experience
Bachelors degree required. MBA strongly preferred.
10 years of progressive finance experience in biotech or life sciences.
Skills and Qualifications
Demonstrated excellence in financial analysis and attention to detail with the ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights.
Skilled communicator with the ability to translate technical accounting concepts into strategic business recommendations for executive stakeholders.
Proven track record of cross-functional collaboration influencing decision-making across diverse teams and organizational levels.
Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to distill complex data into clear actionable insights.
Proficient in Excel PowerPoint and financial planning systems; experience with ERP and enterprise planning tools is a plus.
The starting compensation for this jobis a range in San Diego is from $ to $251600.00 plus incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility). The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job such as required skills and where the job is performed.
