Job Description
Job Title: Mechanic Trainee - Hampton
Department: Shop - Hampton
Reports to: Shop Foreman
Major Role and Purpose:
Assist and train under experienced shop staff to gain valuable hands-on mechanic skills.
Description of Duties:
- Gain an understanding of basic parts processes and proper maintenance procedures as instructed by knowledgeable shop staff.
- Perform all job duties in accordance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Aid senior level mechanics on larger projects.
- Learn how to identify mechanical and safety issues that need corrective action.
- Parts delivery and inventory control.
- Perform routine services and maintenance.
- Participate in training and other learning opportunities.
Additional job duties may include:
- Perform general cleaning of the shop facility and the shop yard.
- Empty shop trash cans and bins.
- Use of a water truck to water down the shop yard for dust control.
- Run a sweeper on the road for dust control.
Education:
- High School DiplomaPreferred
Work Experience:
Previous Mechanic / Shop experiencepreferred.
Physical Demands:
- Job requires the following motions: stretching bending lifting pushing pulling twisting throwing walking standing reaching and squatting.
- Walking or standing may occupy the entire day.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Potential exposure to extremes of hot or cold weather.
- Overtime work may be required.
- Valid Drivers License with transportation to and from job site.
