Role Overview

Reporting into the Ocean Freight Team Leader the Ocean Freight Operator is responsible for the end-to-end management of import shipments from initial booking through to final delivery. The role requires a highly organised individual with strong client service skills attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities within a dynamic logistics environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage import shipments from booking stage through to delivery and job file completion
• Complete import customs declarations in line with UK compliance
• Liaise with clients to manage haulage arrangements
• Raise client invoices and ensure accurate job costing
• Coordinate and verify customs and port health documentation
• Communicate professionally with overseas partners clients and internal teams
• Proactively respond to and resolve shipment queries in a timely manner
• Obtain relevant shipment and supplier information from online sources
• Adhere to internal deadlines and performance standards
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across the freight team

Skills & Experience Required

• Previous experience in freight forwarding or a similar logistics role
• Demonstrated ability to manage full-cycle import operations
• Strong client relationship and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and prioritise workloads
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office particularly Word and Excel
• Experience with Cargowise is desirable but not essential
• Self-motivated organised and capable of working on own initiative
