Job Description

The Child Care Team is dynamic supportive and growing! Are you ready to work with a team to make a difference in childrens lives We are looking for folks who are energetic active responsible and caring! Flexible shifts available during the week Monday - Friday. Hours are 2:00pm - 6:00pm. Opportunity for longer hours during school breaks and early dismissal days.

  • Lead high quality program planning incorporating the Ys values
  • Maintain safety and supervision in accordance with provincial licensing requirements and standards
  • Build healthy relationships with children parents and colleagues
  • Actively interacts with children ages 5-12 as a play partner and homework helper
  • Support implementation of play based educational programming including interactive play literacy mathematics science building drama games team building daily physical activity and sports
  • Participate in YMCA of Southern Interior BC community initiatives

Wed love to hear from people with:

  • Must be 19 years of age (as per provincial licensing standards)
  • Minimum 20 hours of professional development relating to childrens health nutrition safety development and/or guidance (Responsible Adult Certificate)*
  • Experience working with children
  • Valid class 4 operators license (is an asset)
  • Valid First Aid Certificate with CPR level B or C

  • Service Orientated: Deliberately identifies and creates opportunities to enhance each and every individuals YMCA experience. Creates action plans to resolve any service gap areas.
  • Relationship Building and Collaboration: Builds positive interactions listens attentively and communicates effectively to create an open communication environment. Share information best practices and resources with colleagues.

  • Provide 3 references of a professional nature (e.g. Employer Supervisor or Colleague)
  • Provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding your start date. The YMCA will provide applicable instructions and paperwork.
