Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced Azure Security Architect for our direct client the World Bank in Washington D.C. This role is not a solution architect position but requires a deep and hands-on security background in Microsoft Azure. The ideal candidate should possess 15 years of IT experience with significant expertise in designing implementing and managing cloud security architecture in Azure environments.
Must-Have Skills & Certifications:
- 15 years of overall IT experience with strong focus on security architecture
- 5 years of hands-on experience in Azure security solutions and governance
- Deep expertise in Azure Security Center Azure Defender Microsoft Sentinel Azure Key Vault Azure Policy and RBAC
- Must hold CISSP certification
- Must hold AZ-500 (Microsoft Azure Security Technologies) certification
- Strong understanding of cloud-native security controls and architecture principles
- Experience with security assessments threat modeling and risk mitigation in Azure
- Hands-on experience in identity and access management (IAM) network security data protection DevSecOps and compliance frameworks (FedRAMP NIST etc.)
- Experience with automation tools Infrastructure-as-Code (ARM Bicep Terraform) is a plus
- Ability to communicate clearly with enterprise stakeholders and work in a highly regulated environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and maintain Azure security architecture standards and guidelines
- Lead security assessments and architecture reviews for Azure services and workloads
- Evaluate current security controls identify risks and implement mitigation strategies
- Work closely with the cloud engineering and DevOps teams to ensure security best practices are implemented
- Guide compliance with industry standards such as NIST FedRAMP ISO 27001
- Drive security automation and improve incident detection and response capabilities
- Create and maintain documentation for security processes and architecture designs
- Mentor junior team members and provide security guidance across teams
Work Environment:
- Candidate must be able to work onsite 4 days per week in Washington D.C.
- Must be able to work standard business hours in the EST or CST time zones
- This is a client-facing position requiring excellent communication and collaboration skills
