Job Description

Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced Azure Security Architect for our direct client the World Bank in Washington D.C. This role is not a solution architect position but requires a deep and hands-on security background in Microsoft Azure. The ideal candidate should possess 15 years of IT experience with significant expertise in designing implementing and managing cloud security architecture in Azure environments.

Must-Have Skills & Certifications:

  • 15 years of overall IT experience with strong focus on security architecture
  • 5 years of hands-on experience in Azure security solutions and governance
  • Deep expertise in Azure Security Center Azure Defender Microsoft Sentinel Azure Key Vault Azure Policy and RBAC
  • Must hold CISSP certification
  • Must hold AZ-500 (Microsoft Azure Security Technologies) certification
  • Strong understanding of cloud-native security controls and architecture principles
  • Experience with security assessments threat modeling and risk mitigation in Azure
  • Hands-on experience in identity and access management (IAM) network security data protection DevSecOps and compliance frameworks (FedRAMP NIST etc.)
  • Experience with automation tools Infrastructure-as-Code (ARM Bicep Terraform) is a plus
  • Ability to communicate clearly with enterprise stakeholders and work in a highly regulated environment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and maintain Azure security architecture standards and guidelines
  • Lead security assessments and architecture reviews for Azure services and workloads
  • Evaluate current security controls identify risks and implement mitigation strategies
  • Work closely with the cloud engineering and DevOps teams to ensure security best practices are implemented
  • Guide compliance with industry standards such as NIST FedRAMP ISO 27001
  • Drive security automation and improve incident detection and response capabilities
  • Create and maintain documentation for security processes and architecture designs
  • Mentor junior team members and provide security guidance across teams

Work Environment:

  • Candidate must be able to work onsite 4 days per week in Washington D.C.
  • Must be able to work standard business hours in the EST or CST time zones
  • This is a client-facing position requiring excellent communication and collaboration skills
