About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented senior accountant to join their growing team. The ideal candidate will have a background in public accounting or real estate finance and will play a key role in supporting monthly close processes preparing investment reports liaising with financial institutions and driving process improvements. This role is ideal for a CPA (or CPA candidate) with strong technical knowledge and experience in real estate or working with complex financial structures.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full cycle accounting duties including month-end and quarter-end close procedures.
- Prepare and maintain accurate working papers and reconciliations.
- Prepare and present detailed financial statements and investment packages for internal stakeholders and external partners including pension funds and banks.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure the timely and accurate completion of period-end closings.
- Support the preparation and organization of corporate financial statements and related disclosures.
- Contribute to the setup and financial integration of new joint ventures and securitization structures.
- Liaise with external investors financial institutions and other stakeholders to support financial reporting and transaction execution.
- Enhance financial reporting processes by improving documentation templates and procedures.
- Assist in various ad hoc and special projects as required by management.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members.
Qualifications & Skills
- CPA designation or actively pursuing CPA.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting or finance preferably with a Big 8 firm or in the real estate sector.
- Strong knowledge of ASPE (Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises).
- Experience with residential real estate accounting is a strong asset.
- Familiarity with investment reporting consolidation and intercompany eliminations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with Jonas Software is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail organizational skills and ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to interact professionally with senior stakeholders.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
