You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailPOSITION SUMMARY: The Shipping/Receiving clerk will be responsible for verifying incoming and outgoing shipments to include checking for accuracy and damage of shipments. They will be responsible for entering receiving information into the computer with consistent accuracy and timeliness. They will need to assist sales staff in pulling orders when needed and work with other departments on a daily basis. They will also be responsible for maintaining records for shipments received and sent. They must demonstrate a strong attention to detail be organized and have a proven track record of dependability.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBLITIES: NONE
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Receive shipment and verify the accuracy of the order; checks against suppliers count and immediately reports discrepancies to carriers supervisor and purchaser
Check shipment for damage and report to carriers supervisor and purchaser
Work with other departments to resolve inaccuracy and provide shipping quotes as requested
Verify and record all items loaded for shipments
Prepare packages for shipping to include packing orders for customers
Ship return items to vendors and products to customers
Carefully and accurately maintains shipping records for requested categories including sent and received orders
Enter receiving information into the computer with consistent accuracy and timeliness
Maintains database of shipment data to ensure that customer orders are updated and that appropriate billing documents are provided to accounting or other associated departments as required
Assist other departments in pulling orders for customers
Completes information on damage claims for in-transit damage
Transports materials to departments or warehouse
Maintain a clean receiving area and warehouse
Remove trash from offices daily
Maintain waste and cardboard dumpsters to ensure no extra charges for overflowing bins
REQUIRED SKILLS KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Ability to accurately sort count and verify items received
Basic understanding of railway dock and warehouse procedures
Good organizational skills and attention to detail
Must be dependable and reliable
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and/or inventory software to maintain records input data and create reports

MINIUM REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or equivalent
1 year of shipping/receiving experience preferred
Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills
Knowledge and experience operating a computer and in basic office procedures
Must hold a valid current Drivers license and be insurable to drive a company vehicle
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to traverse distribution warehouse and access a variety of storage spaces and shelving units by stretching squatting and reaching
Constantly operating a computer
Frequently communicates with shipping personnel and staff.
Requires regularly positioning self in the warehouse and loading dock
Vision abilities to include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus
Must be able to regularly lift over 50lbs at a time
Regularly required to move about the warehouse office building and loading dock
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Must be able to work in a variety of outdoor weather conditions and various temperatures in the warehouse.
TRAVEL/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
Some local travel may be necessary depending on the needs of the company. Hours are typically Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m. but may vary depending on the needs of the company.
