This position primarily is responsible for maintaining and developing GRUs EMS computer software. The primary function of the EMS is to monitor and control the GRUs Bulk Power transmission generation and distribution system. Monitors all EMS workstations and servers and interpret the logs on 5 different systems namely primary EMS (PCC) backup EMS (BCC) Quality Assurance System (QAS) and PI reporting system on a 24X7 basis to ensure the systems compliance with NERC CIP requirements. Make continuous improvements to EMS systems to ensure the GRUs grid control center has necessary tools to sufficiently operate the GRUs transmission grid. Contribute to developing new enhanced and improved applications and monitoring software to improve the reliability and availability of GRUs transmission grid operations. Work on maintaining the GRUs real-time EMS (Energy Management System) including system upgrades integration databases and software and applications support. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Monitors updates and develops the SCADA system to ensure the proper performance function and control of the EMS.
Performs daily monitoring analyzing and problem resolution within any of the OSI Monarch platform software.
Creates and updates system displays and substation one-lines used by the system operators using OSI Display Builder and Tabular Builder.
Acts as the lead administrator for the OSIsoft PI database responsible for updates and additions of new data tags using PI SMT and PI Builder.
Provides technical assistance and training to system operators.
Schedules and manages projects with engineering and other departments as required.
Attends work on a continuous and regular basis.
NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Reviews compliance to NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection and Cyber Security.
Programs encryption modules and cellular modems used for remote network communications.
Prepares and maintains configuration control documents.
May require on-call responsibilities.
May require after-hours and weekend responsibilities.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily. Below are the required education experience knowledge skills and abilities to perform the essential functions.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in electrical engineering information technology computer sciences computer programming information science networks system engineering and five(5) years of progressively responsible SCADA or EMS related fields; or An Associate degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in information technology computer sciences computer programming information sciences or system engineering and seven (7) years of progressively responsible SCADA or EMS related field or
Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma and current generally accepted certification in an IT area of expertise and nine (9) years of progressively responsible SCADA or EMS related field.

Licenses
Valid driver license required. Valid Florida driver license required within 30 days of appointment.

Thorough knowledge of the administration of Server Platform 11 Monarch System trained by OSI.

Ability to perform repairs on RTU units within the electric substation.

To perform this job successfully an individual must possess certain physical abilities and be able to withstand work related environmental conditions.

May be required to travel locally to other general government or GRU locations within the Gainesville area.
